It was 10:00 am Monday, November 30 and the morning classes had just begun. The 10:00 am bell had just rung but no students were in their classrooms. Well, that’s not 100% true, they were in their zoom classes. Some students were happy to be in class while others were still mentally on break. Although it may not seem like it, this 3-week period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is very important. It’s very easy to not try these 3 weeks and let your grades drop. But with not being in person for school, it is even easier to let that happen. The school knew this and decided to put some rules into place. One of which was to have your camera on the whole time. As you could tell, the boys that liked taking class from the comfort of their bed were not happy with that rule. We were also introduced to “SPW” or “Asynchronous work”. This was work that we had to do on our own time that would be due at the end of the week. Also, the teachers were more prepared on what to expect given the spring of last year. With the new rules and experience from the teachers, this online period was a challenging success!
