After nearly an entire fall of uncertainty about whether they would schedule a game, Woodberry’s Varsity Football team opened up its official season with a great performance against FUMA. The game was dominated early on by 5th former Donovan Baker at the running back position with a 74 yard breakaway TD. Baker ended with 277 total yards and 4 touchdowns. Quarterback Ben Locklear was also able to score one touchdown on the ground and one through the air. The Fumites scored some late game points but the Tigers still put on a dominating performance for the entire game, with a resulting score of 47-21. Following the victory, the Tigers received even better news. After many weeks of wonder and hope that the Tigers would schedule The Game against Episcopal High School, a date was set. The Tigers will play Episcopal High School on March 6th, 2021, and continue the oldest rivalry in the South. The Football Team will resume practice at some point later in the winter in order to prepare for the game, but for now, the Tigers finish the fall at 1-0, and turn their attention to Winter sports.
