The first score of the game was an exciting one, as Staley Wideman threw the ball 25 yards down field to fellow wide receiver and sixth former Luke Blundin for a touchdown. Then, an interception by Jianni Woodson-Brooks set up a 27-yard field goal by Tyler Mills that put the Tigers up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, that lead quickly vanished as Bishop Sullivan scored 19 unanswered points Saturday en route to a 31-16 victory over Woodberry Forest.
The second quarter started off with three quick Crusader touchdowns, two of which were scored by running back Nehki Meredith. However, a blocked extra point by TK Hodges and failed two-point conversion held Bishop Sullivan to 19 points. The Forestmen responded by scoring the final points of the half. Ben Locklear capped off a 60-yard drive by taking it in the endzone himself for a six-yard run. The Tigers headed into the Buxton Room down 19-16.
Bishop Sullivan took full control in the second half, scoring two touchdowns and preventing Woodberry from scoring.
The Tigers open up Prep League play on Saturday as they host St. Chris in Johnson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
