Varsity Swimming defeats Fork Union 203-102

This past Tuesday, the Tigers marched into Fork Union Military Academy and
defeated the Blue Devils with a final score of 203-102. Overall, we took home the
gold in all twelve events. In the first event our relay consisting of Captains Charlie
Moore ’19 and Jack Stelter ’20 as well as newcomer Gavin Newcamp ’21 and
graduating senior Riley Fletcher ’19 starting us off strong in the Men’s 200 Meter
Medley Relay. Followed up by Kyle Floyd 20 in the Men’s 200 Meter Freestyle, the
Tigers continued to stay strong and hold the upper hand against the Blue Devils.
Event three was secured once again by Gavin Newcamp ’21 and the Diving portion
of the meet included Michael Garifullin ’19 who fought for first place, securing it for
the second meet in a row. Alvaro Garcia Valdecasas ’21, Woodberry’s second
highest scorer in the diving competition, came in fifth place. Bringing the win truly
home was celebrated by seniors Moore, and Mike Keohane ’19 as they
reigned victorious in the 100 Meter Backstroke and 100 Meter Breaststroke. The
Tigers jump back into action this Saturday in the Woodberry Invitational held at the
University of Virginia.
