This past Friday, October 12, 2018, the Richmond Ballet performed at Woodberry Forest in the Bowman Gray Auditorium. The Richmond Ballet is also known as the State Ballet of Virginia, but the ballet includes dancers from all around the world. Attendance was mandatory, and students got to watch the dancers perform three different pieces during the performance. The performance included originally choreographed pieces from the Richmond ballet itself as well as William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Before the show started Stoner Winslett, the artistic director of the Richmond Ballet, addressed the audience. She mentions her own son who attended Woodberry. She noted the athleticism, the acting abilities, and the musical skills required to perform a ballet. This all became very clear just moments into the performance. Students across the auditorium were impressed by the performance, and we are all thankful for the opportunity to learn about something new.
