After an opening touchdown drive for Collegiate, the Tigers controlled the game scoring 48 unanswered points. Ben Locklear and the Tigers’ offense had their best game of the season going up and down the field with ease. An outstanding performance by Dequece Carter and solid return from Kalenga Muganda made the Cougars wish they hadn’t made the trip up to the Forest.

“The offensive line really stepped up,” Locklear said, “And helped us establish the run game to slow down the pace and stay in control. With the tough loss to Collegiate last year, the win is a big morale boost and beating them at home made it even better.”

Locklear threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those end zone bombs were to Carter who finished with 152 yards. Muganda added 180 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Rhys Logan and Ford Asherman also rushed for a touchdown each.

The play of the game came off a 73-yard touchdown pass from Locklear to Carter in the second quarter. Carter stiff armed his defender and out ran the entire Cougars’ defense finding the endzone for his second time of the day. This past week, Carter received his first D1 offer from Fordham University. Expect to see more offers coming his way after another outstanding performance. Carter now has 650 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. (In only four games!)

Don’t forget about the Tigers’ defense who had a stellar game as well. Defensive Coordinator Alex Tisch took advantage of the bye week and had his boys ready to go. Linebackers Mathieu Pelletier, Jianni Woodson-Brooks, J Banzet, and Logan Bowers controlled the defense. They got some help from John Harris, Bill Clark, Davis Smith, and Bennett Hudson who all recorded a sack.

The Tigers move to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Prep League. With an upcoming bye week, Woodberry’s next game is Friday, October 19, at home vs. Benedictine.
