JV Lacrosse: Finishes a Hard-Fought Season

Ellett Miller ’21

The Woodberry Forest JV Lacrosse team has reached the end of a hard-fought season with a record of 6-6.

The season started off well with two back-to-back wins against St Anne’s-Belfield and Potomac. Woodberry then fell into a five-game losing streak beginning with a hard loss to Norfolk Academy. This string of losses was no match for the resilience and tenacity in which the Tigers fought to bring home a major 5-2 victory against Collegiate (to which Woodberry had previously fallen 1-10).

Major contributors to the team’s success were captains Burns Bissell (attack), Ward Cozart (attack), Tano Kleberg (midfield), and Stephen Brice (defense). These young men contributed their experience and leadership to the team to keep spirits high and the drive to win ever present. Another contributor was third-form attackman Miles Miller, who scored four goals in his first game as a starter scored in a matter of minutes against St. Stephen’s-St. Agnes. His contributions continued in games against both Collegiate and Stab.

As a third-former joining the team, I’m very proud to say that I had the experience of playing with such a fine group, and that I witnessed, firsthand, the drive and determination of this team that led to a great season.
