On Tuesday, your Swimming and Diving Tigers faced off in a dual meet against the green and yellow Collegiate Cougars in the single head-to-head dual meet that the Tigers have on their calendar year after year. Though they fought gallantly, the Tigers fell to the Cougars 121-63. The Tigers began with two disqualifications as a result of false starts in the men’s 4×50-yard medley relay, but fifth former and captain Charlie Moore and fourth former Kyle Floyd led the charge for the Tigers right after in the men’s 200-yard freestyle, earning a 1-2 finish. Fourth former Campbell Krause and Kyle Floyd teamed up with 5th formers Mark Wu and Riley Fletcher to earn second place in the men’s 4×50 yard freestyle relay. In the final event of the meet, Kyle Floyd and fellow fourth formers Jack Stelter and Ben Lundy teamed up with Charlie Moore to earn second place in the men’s 4×100 yard freestyle relay.
After 2 years without Tiger divers, fifth former Michael Garifullin was the leading scorer for Woodberry Forest, finishing with a score of 115.3 points. Fifth former Walker Antonio scored 86.6 points and third former Tyler Mills scored 83.3 points. “Despite the difficulty of the meet, our family stepped up to the challenge and battled to the very end,” said Charlie Moore.
The Tigers look to rebound from the loss against the Cougars next Friday, December fifteenth during their December Invitational when they will face off against St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School.
